A viral Facebook reel has falsely portrayed a Senate hearing involving former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo as a criticism of Marikina mayoral candidate Marjorie Ann “Maan”  Teodoro.

The reel uploaded by Alamat ni Kamote on April 21 uses a clip of Guo speaking during a May 2024 Senate hearing on her alleged ties to Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO). Layered onto the video is a fabricated voiceover asking various questions about Teodoro’s candidacy:

May plataporma ba si Maan Teodoro? Mga plano? Nakita mo ba na nagsabi si Maan ng mga plataporma niya para sa Marikina (Does Maan Teodoro have a platform? Any plans? Did you see Maan speak about her platforms for Marikina)?

To which Guo is shown responding:

Wala po! Wala po! Hindi po (None! None! No)!

The reel interlaces the voiceover with the actual audio from the hearing, making it appear that Guo was answering the fabricated questions.

The manipulated clip was extracted from Rappler’s YouTube livestream of the hearing (1:24:50-1:25:16) where Guo was questioned about her marital status and her connection to POGO operations. There was no mention of Teodoro, the incumbent representative for Marikina’s first district, in the session.
